Chemo Day 1

1/23/2020 – 1/24/2020: Today was day 1 of mom’s first round of chemo. Due to GERD, her appetite has been quite poor. Regardless, we could not delay the chemo. She had been throwing up breakfast that morning but was mentally prepared to fight this cancer. This was going to be a busy few days. They started her Hyper CVAD regimen with Rituximab. After 10 minutes of the chemo through IV, mom’s entire body started shaking. The dose was too much for her body to handle, so they decreased the dose and the shaking stopped. Overall she handled this full day of chemo very well – Rituximab, Cyclophosphamide, and Dexamethasone. Over the course of the chemo, mom was running a slight fever but nothing alarming. After the IV and steroids, mom was due for a lumbar puncture. That went well – no pain. Mom was staying strong and forcing herself to eat when possible.
